Surprise Mixed Doubles Teams Advance to National Championships
The Surprise Tennis Club is celebrating after an impressive showing at the USTA Sectional Championships in Tucson, Arizona, from September 26-29, 2024. Our mixed doubles teams delivered outstanding performances, bringing home significant victories and paving the way for the upcoming National Championships.
Championship Highlights
The 6.0 18+ mixed doubles team, captained by Angie Rabb and Chris Heath, clinched the championship title with a flawless 4-0 record at the tournament and earned a spot at the National Championships in Surprise, Arizona, from November 1-3. Their teamwork and strategy were key to their success, and they’re excited to compete on home turf.
The 7.0 40+ mixed doubles team, captained by Billy Steele and Ian Liu, also excelled, securing their place in the National Championships in Orlando, Florida, on November 8-10. Their determination and skill were evident throughout the tournament, winning by just one individual win over the second place finalist.
Honorable Mentions
We’d also like to recognize the 6.0 40+ team, captained by Brian Hannahs, who finished third, and the 7.0 18+ team, captained by Billy Steele and Kevin Bernal, who took second place. Their hard work and dedication contributed greatly to our club’s success.
