Surprise 18+ 3.5 Men Win at District Championships
The 18+ 3.5 men’s tennis team The Redeem Team completed a dominant spring season with a perfect 12-0 record, winning the District Championship and securing a spot at the USTA Southwest Sectionals in August.
Based out of Surprise, Arizona, the team lost only 5 individual matches out of 60 throughout the regular season — a testament to their depth and consistency across both singles and doubles lines.
Their postseason run was just as impressive. In the East vs. West division playoff, they swept PTC Hit and Run 5-0 to take the spring league title. Then, on Sunday, May 4, they defeated fall season champions MTC Billy Goats 4-1 in the District final.
With the victory, The Redeem Team advances to Sectionals, held August 8–10 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, they will compete against top teams from New Mexico, El Paso, and other Arizona regions for a chance to qualify for Nationals.
The team fell just short of the National Championships last year — missing out by a single tiebreaker match win. This season’s undefeated run puts them in a strong position to make that dream a reality.
The Redeem Team is captained by Chris Heath.
